Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26 1991) is better known under her stage moniker Ari Lennox is an American singer and songwriter who hails from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist to be associated with J. Cole's record label Dreamville Records. She dropped her debut EP for the label on Oct. 21st of 2016 with the title Pho. It was then that she started to gain recognition. The album that she released as her debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading songs online in the year 2012 after she dropped her first mixtape, Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. In 2014, she continued to release her music on the internet, including her independently issued single Bound. In the year 2015, she was featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes Album in the track Sweat It Out on July 21. J. Cole asked her to collaborate with him for Rihanna's music references. In the following calendar, her songs was circulating through Dreamville. On December 8, that she had joined Dreamville Records. She made an appearance on the joint album Revenge of the Dreamers II in the track Backseat featuring Cozz. Then, in October 2016, she released her first EP, Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's hit song Change and also performed as the opening act for the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. In 2018, she performed as a guest performer on two tracks with EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song as well as Bas' Icarus. The debut album of Ari Lennox Shea Butter Baby was released on the 16th July of this year. The first single, called Whipped Cream of the album hit stores on in September 5th, 2018, accompanied by a the music video. The second single she released was Grampa on the 9th November. In November, 13 the singer released two new singles, titled No One and Pdigree. She performed with Cole on the Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby in the 16th of November, and she released the song in a solo version for her debut album. The song was followed by the music video which debuted in February 20, 2019, and reached 3 million views on YouTube within its first seven days. In December of 2018, she was an opening act for The From East Atlanta With Love Tour together with 6LACK.
